Reminders & First Night of Practice Tips

Are you new to MO? Just getting into swimming and diving? Welcome! We know being a new swim/dive parent can feel like being thrown right into the deep end (welcome to swim puns...) and we're eager to help all our families have a successful and enjoyable season. Here are a few ways to familiarize yourself with all things Summer Swim and Dive...

  1. Peruse our website—there's lots of info there on everything from schedules to information about Meets.
  2. Thank you to all the parents who attended Parent Information Night. To those unable to attend the presentation has been posted to the website: Presentation
  3. Chat with a Board Member during the first few days of practice. Our Board Members are all volunteer MO Parents who've been doing this a while. Several will be on the grounds during the first few practices and can answer your questions in person.

  • Put your name on EVERYTHING.
  • Arrive 10 minutes before the start of practice time so we can sort everyone into their groups as they arrive.
  • Pre-Season practices involve more swimmers practicing at the same time...this means a fuller parking lot! Plan ahead for parking scarcity, and arrive with enough time to walk a bit farther than usual after you find a spot. Better yet—Bike! The Monona Community Pool has lots of bike racks...always with plenty of space.
  • Every swim family has a mail folder in our hanging file box. The box will be placed by the exit. Check your folder regularly! You'll find award ribbons and pins earned at meets, and other info throughout the season, but during the first week you'll find your Swim Buddy Assignment (if you signed up to be a buddy). The mail folder is also a great way to relay (more swim puns!) notes and little treats to your buddy throughout the Summer.
  • Thank you for having patience with us as we get started this season!
Coach's MEDLEY-swim notes from Coach Kelly
  • On the first few nights of practice please arrive early and ready to go!
  • Families/swimmers check in with COACH KELLY (or a board member) near the concession stand/blocks.  She will be directing traffic.
  • Swim buddy information will be found in the team folders during the first week
  • Please email: Coach Kelly with any conflicts with practice.  This helps her make lane assignments throughout the pre-season and regular season.
DEEP DIVE—dive notes from Coach Jan

Welcome new and returning families!

The Summer Season kicks off on with our Pre-Season Practice Schedule on Tuesday, May 30th.

Preseason is a time of transition between spring and summer sports. We fully support spring athletes and wish you every success.  Stay focused and finish hard.

Practice conflicts will happen and adaptations can be made. Please find the schedules posted to our website for preseason, regular season, and the 4th of July celebration.

Parent volunteers are needed to assist at home dive meets.  Please see our volunteer policy for further information and sign up if you can!

The coaching staff is looking forward to a fun, memorable summer of growth and success.

See you soon!

Coach Jan
